i haven't checked nws and i haven't tested ephemerals but nws may be a lot less efficient because it has to go thru write policy (spam checker) as well each time a packet (note) is sent.
Doug Hoyte (npub1yxp…qud4) knows better. it may be rate limited by mine as the packets will be seen as notes. there is no separation of ephemerals vs normals in my current code.
