I remember waking up on summer mornings, scarfing a bowl of cereal, grabbing $20 for food, snacks, and water, my brother and I getting on mountain bikes in the suburbs of #Denver, and not coming back until after it was dark.

In the summer, the sun set after 9:30pm.

Our parents had no idea where we were the entire day, no way to communicate with us, and basically hoped we came home alive, safe, and sound.

We were in middle school.
