I learnt about two nice circuits today, both have strange names:
1. Joule thief - a way to boost voltage to drive LEDs for instance (LED drop voltage can be bigger than say, a 1.5v cell and in such cases, this circuit is quite useful)
2. Capacitance multiplier - a way to remove noise from a simple bridge rectifier+capacitor linear power supply.
Definitely worth a look at both the circuits.
