“Happy #Juneteenth to those who celebrate!” is a thing I’m seeing on social media and honestly what the fuck…? That sentiment just feels wrong, like it’s got a loophole sheltering racists from observing history. Celebrate the fuck out of freedom, yes, but also acknowledge that Texas kept slavery alive for two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, and that shit is NOT OKAY.
