I don’t care what the increase in horsepower is that the manufacturer advertises, I just don’t trust the things. They all start burning oil around the 80-90K mile mark, they gulp coolant like a camel, and they are inherently prone to pressure issues around the cylinder heads. When I finally do buy a new truck it will be a 5.0 liter V8. They certainly cost more, but the cost justified by their track record of high reliability and ease of maintenance.
