I'd guess I'd want to know what "spending as necessary" means to you? The "hodling forever" mantra is one of the biggest loads of bullshit in our community.

You get one life. What benefit do you get by hodling forever? Unless you already were well off and FIAT flush, the beauty of Bitcoin's gains are you and your loved ones could experience things you may otherwise not be able to.

There will be no bigger regret then sitting on your death bed and wishing you had done something but didn't because you hodled. Then if whomever you pass the BTC down to did the same thing? Sounds miserable.

Now, I will say that on your career question, if you're not passionate about any of those things you mentioned, you definitely shouldn't spend on those. But if you find something that you are, even if that is braiding friendship bracelets, by all means chase it.
