Terrafied Kestrel on Nostr: Trans people, I know things are bad, and I'm right with you comparing current events ...
Trans people, I know things are bad, and I'm right with you comparing current events to the book burning of Opernplatz[1], but the one thing we have that we didn't before is just crazy mad visibility.
I've been actually heartened by the response, as bad as things are. Look at what's happening with #TransJoy and resistance in Canada. Look at what's happening in the media: A Trans woman in Barbie without even a comment?! Like, she was just one of the girls without a single disclaimer. Look at Lizzo concerts, look at schools, look at television (Monster High, anyone?!).
Laws are dark, fascism is scary and fucking real. But never before have Trans people been so… beautifully visible.
I tried to come out in the 70s. I failed coming out in the 90s. Queer, and especially Trans, people and supporters are out IN FORCE. Don't lose heart.
Existence is Resistance.

That was the destruction of medical records and a library of a sexuality institute that also did Trans medicine, folks.
