Thank you for the back and forth. It was illuminating. I didn't expect to convince anyone but I was interested to see what tricks of the mind someone would play to avoid looking too deeply at it.
1. If you have to go the the extent of saying languages evolve and are therefore and relevant today and 2 that 'books and whatnot' aren't able to shed light on things then I can only say this is a convenient trick of the Ego not to engage in ideas and evidence that would ruin your view of the world. Cognitive Dissonance at its finest. To be expected however on such a topic.
Also, it doesnt matter if Jesus spoke Aramaic 'cos he didn't write anything down so it matters not what language he spoke. This point is pointless and shows your at your wits end for logic.
"it is well known' - this is circular logic. You use only the texts you want to use and then say everyone knows this even though there are other texts which you won't fully engage with and then use the texts you do like to say 'everyone knows this'. More cognitive dissonance and illogical thinking.
Anyhoo, It was useful to see where people go with this info when presented with it. Thank you and good luck!
