Money, power, neoliberal attitides to the primacy of the market, the mainstream media - all these are part of the problem. But we are also saddled with political structures last revised in the C19th and early C20th, and modelled on a public school debating society. These drive an artifical inability to agree or compromise, presided over by two similar elites. I reckon the single most radical policy we could get behind is a change in the voting system.
