People move out of those areas because those areas make them feel unsafe if they’re a POC or gay or trans. They’re unaccepted by people in those places. But leaving towns with only straight cis white people doesn’t change them, does it? It makes them lean harder in. If there’s a strategy for winning in four years (if we have another one of these in four years), it has to be someone really young, and more people are going to have to embed themselves in communities that are very red.
