With so many old cottages torn down and replaced with structures that could be lived in comfortably year round, yet are still referred to as cottages, I have been wondering how one would properly define a cottage.

Maybe a point system is needed; so a cottage kitchen with a more than fifty year old electric stove would get max points. I remember when I was a kid visiting my neighbour's cottage with it's wood-fired kitchen stove.
