I can't think of any time in history where they were explorers. Even after they wandered the desert for 40 years, they showed up to where there were thriving cities and took it over.
The American frontier? No jews. African exploration? Nope. South American exploration? Absent. Australia? Nowhere to be found until there were settlements for them to occupy.
