Does it make sense to describe someone as a "dear acquaintance"?
Someone I knew in passing for years, but in a very friendly way, died of a massive stroke this morning. He was a young vibrant light, and the only way I can think to describe what he meant to me is that he was a "dear acquaintance."
I was also so happy to run into him, and he always referred to me as "my friend." "Hello, my friend!" He was just that way, and so many people are going to miss him.
