I think I also agree with you on a lot of this. My main focus for a long time (I think I became aware of this shit about a decade ago, maybe slightly more) has been the practical consequences.
So I do understand your focus on "unintended consequences."
"Yes, I see you want to be kind and inclusive and that's laudible... but what about women who are so traumatised by male violence that they can't attend group therapy with male-bodied people in the group?"
"Yes, I see you want to be kind and inclusive and that's laudible... but what about the fact that you then end up with male sex offenders in women's prisons?"
"Yes, I see you want to be kind and inclusive and that's laudible... but what about the fact that eventually every world record in women's sport will have been won by someone born male?"
(Of course all of these are going to be dismissed by the ultra-woke, what we might call the "Lisa Nandy" gambit. But for the well-meaning but hadn't thought it through, they may gain some traction.)
