This is just stockholm syndrome with another captor.
I was that Linux user.
They made me rewrite my firewall rules from ipchains to iptables. I did not ask for this.
I was a happy LILO user, then I was forced to use GRUB.
They shoved ALSA down my throat when OSS was fine. (OSSv4 is still > ALSA)
They made me use systemd unless I picked another distro, which then makes you learn a whole new package manager etc
Pulseaudio? Didn't ask for that one either
Oh what's that, now you're gonna force people to use Pipewire? (How the hell did I live through 3 massive audio subsystem rewrites for a single OS --- and none of them intended to provide truly seamless backwards compatibility?)
Wayland? My X11 configuration was working fine. Thankfully by the time it mattered I stopped using Linux on the desktop.
Remember what they did to Gnome 2? They literally pulled it from your arms and shot it in the head.
How about when they took away ifconfig and route because "it's too hard to rewrite it like the BSD folks and unify ALL the networking configuration into a single utility where it should be"
And then where the fuck is my netstat? Hello? Too hard to keep that around, make everyone use ss instead
