I would add that, just like in a BDSM relationship (😅), it's ok if you *both want* to give the other that control. But it should be a conscious decision, not a default. I never *wanted* another partner, I was fine with one. But the fact that it was the default made my partners lie and cheat and hurt me whereas I would've been fine with changing the agreement. So yeah, we should all have freedom, and then decide if we want to give some up.
