I must be quite sleep-deprived. I was remembering a Lord of the Rings video answering why Elrond didn't kill Isildur at Mount Doom and destroy the Ring. I started laughing dementedly to myself, thinking "Yeah, violence over the Ring, what an amazing idea, that always works out!"
