"content": "The part about German being the other language. I was informed in very clear terms that it was a blend of Latin and Frisian. TBF, Frisian is pretty English-like, and there's been a lot of exchange between (normal) Dutch and English.\n\nThen again, I'm not a linguistic historian, I'm well aware of the provincial pride involved, and I personally side with the German theory.\n...unless there's a Frisian in the room and I don't have a professional linguist for backup :)",
