I got sucked in by a social media post on another site from a plant shop that has two locations - one near us, and one in a very upper crusty town across the Metro from us. I'd been to the fancy location once, and was blown away how the ludicrously expensive plants were mixed in with the cheap ones, instead of gated away like in every other plant shop in town. It does make me super cautious about what plants I pick up!!
Anyway, they had a new shipment of plants, including an absolutely massive Alocasia I just wanted to look at in person. I assumed I'd just walk in, admire the giant plant and choke on the price tag for entertainment purposes. I ended up walking out with a few gorgeous, 4" #aroids that were in my price range, and a beautiful calathea of a type that I've never seen before that wasn't properly labeled, which I found at a grocery store we stopped at on the way. I fully expect that calathea to bring me nothing but heartache, but hope springs eternal. #HousePlants
