An interesting discussion reflecting your cultural heritage. I agree with you: not all Americans agree that the point of government is to make life good for all citizens. In fact, a sizable number of Americans contend just the opposite, and they are driving the Trump movement (and Republican party in general). They are fundamentally inimical to government and to the notion that government should provide a safety net for those in need.
