There is no definition of "floppy" in itself, but there is "floppy disk" and "floppy drive".

floppy disk (flah-pee disk) A removable disk, typically 3 1/2 inches square. The original floppy disk was 8 inches square and truly had a flop to it. Later 5 1/4 -inch models were also slightly floppy, but 3 1/2-inch disks aren't floppy at all, though they're still called floppy disks. The 3 1/2-inch, high-density 1.44 megabyte floppy disk in the standard for all PCs. "Kay detested her floppy disks for being so floppy, so she sprayed them with starch."
