I am pretty fatalistic these days. Unfortunately, we weren't ever going to come to a soft landing.

Humans had all these fossil fuels and we blew through them like a cokehead getting an inheritance. We would have had to have decided as a group generations ago to give up wealth today so our great grandchildren wouldn't see catastrophe, based purely on science and numbers.

I just don't think there was ever a possibility that would happen.
