theo h. mann (npub17dy…yf4p) it actually is cheaper in the long run because children of purely socially economic factors won't steal them. Also now that 1 cent coins have been cheapened downed by making them from nickel, it can cause issues in children with nickel allergies.
It's not actually as dumb as it seems.
