Yeah. I've come to the terms with the sad fact that the wonderful autistic community of Twitter is scattered and gone for good. It still stings a little.
But the world is big. I have found new people here and feel like I have happily settled.
Also, I think the downfall of Twitter is still going on. Things have not yet settled, emerging platforms are trying to attract users and establish themselves.
Maybe the situation stabilizes into different platforms for different people and even styles of interaction. Maybe one platform gains popularity while others become more marginal communities. We'll see. Even if Mastodon does not become The Gathering Place, it seems to have found its character and proven its ability to keep those for whom it is a good match. Never mind the numbers, people post good, engaging content and we have good discussions here, which is the most important thing. While I hope that people for whom Mastodon is a good match keep on finding their way here, this is already big enough to be interesting and relevant. With masses, also trolls and other unsavory characters will arrive and fending them off starts requiring more effort.
So I'm not worried- the one thing my online life has taught me is, that new friends can be found anywhere. And sometimes, I even get a chance to pick up an old acquintance from my frenpocket! 😀
