Abu Dhabi (UAE) has announced the launch of its 'Abu Dhabi Digital Strategy 2025-2027', aimed at accelerating the emirate's transformation towards a government reliant on artificial intelligence (AI). The strategy, led by the Abu Dhabi Government's Department of Digital Transformation, in collaboration with government entities in the emirate, aims to achieve global leadership in AI-based government, with investments worth AED 13 billion by the end of this year and the next two years, developing and enhancing the emirate's innovation and technology ecosystem. The strategy targets establishing a robust digital infrastructure, forming the foundation for a flexible and adaptable system, to achieve 100% cloud computing adoption in all government operations, and 100% digitalization and automation of all government transactions, as well as establishing a unified digital platform for managing corporate resources, which will simplify operations, increase productivity, and efficiency. As part of the 'AI for All' program within the strategy, the Abu Dhabi government is investing in training and empowering citizens in the use of various AI applications, alongside the use of over 200 innovative AI solutions in all government services, enhancing Abu Dhabi's status as a global center for AI-driven innovation. The strategy will also contribute to developing strong digital standards and foundations, ensuring the highest cybersecurity standards, prepared for future challenges and high-level handling. Ahmed Temim Hisham Al Ketbi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Government's Department of Digital Transformation, said: 'The Abu Dhabi Digital Strategy 2025-2027 embodies our wise leadership's vision for a pioneering AI-based government, through the integration of its solutions in various government operations to contribute to building a future characterized by high adaptability and technological support.' Through the integration of AI, cloud technologies, and data-driven visions in the Abu Dhabi government's foundations and methodologies, we will bring about a qualitative transformation in the experience of citizens and government services, enhancing government efficiency and productivity, and driving sustainable economic development.' The 'Abu Dhabi Digital Strategy' is built on more than a decade of digital transformation, where Abu Dhabi has evolved from an e-government to a smart government and now towards a digital government, aiming to become a leading AI-based government for citizens, residents, and companies across various sectors. Recent initiatives include the launch of the third generation of the government services platform 'TAM 3.0' and 'Abu Dhabi's Customer Experience Program', paving the way for the next generation of digital solutions, AI-driven technologies, and sustainable cloud computing and data analysis. The strategy is expected to contribute more than AED 24 billion to Abu Dhabi's GDP by 2027, also providing more than 5,000 job opportunities that support localization efforts. Through key initiatives, including partnerships with the Mohamed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence to enhance skills, the Advanced Technology Research Council to access large language models, and developing AI infrastructure with G42 and international partners, Abu Dhabi is working to solidify its global position as a center for digital governance and sustainable development.
