Yesterday it dawned on me that I won't be able to export and import everything from gmail to proton (at least not in the free plan). So either I keep that gmail account forever or I lose 20 years of email history? Weird thought.
Before gmail I had hotmail and I'm not sure I saved anything from there. Of course that was just teenage stuff.

I imported all my calendars of all this time. Also felt weird.

So, are there ways to keep my gmail archive without keeping gmail? Can I download that entire history (in readable, accessible form)? It's less than 4Gb.
