My wife knows quality goods and has a sense of the regular prices of brand items. She also refuse to buy them new.

Every other week or so she will go shopping at thrift stores and come home with some item that was a few dollars but would have been sold for often hundreds of dollars new. So not only does she have a home and closet of quality items but she came up on all of it. So when she is done using them she sells them for often twice what she paid.

She hasn't bought new clothes in years and thinks most new items are trash compared with "vintage" pieces. She has a refined, classic style and our home is decorated comfortably at a very low cost.

I am always amazed at what people are willing to spend on items they will discard so quickly.
