"content": "A lottery would certainly be better than elections which most people don't care about and are at risk of capture by particular activist groups, as we see so often in the US scramble for control of school boards, policing, election officials, etc. If we could have learned societies, charities, arts organisations etc put forward well curated shortlists, then lotteries for each sector could work?",
