Tried a second bag of onion rings (same brand, etc) but used the timing/temp in the manual instead of on the bag and it was better but still not as crispy as oil.

So my guess is you can't really put the whole bag in one basket as it's too crowded probably.

Except then the timing of cooking this way becomes far less competitive with cooking with oil.

This likely all works great for 2 or 3 people but it's harder to figure out how to cook enough to cover 5 people without lots of waiting I think.
