last night i was thinking about how God loves us without needing anything at all from us, and this evokes our love in return. but love creates a need to care for the beloved's needs while God is entirely self-sufficient. God knows we have this need and attends to it by adopting the case of absolutely every person, such that every neighbour presents an opportunity to care for the needs of the One beyond all need. about how it's a gift to us, not a test. and about how that adoption is in fact the same act as God's initial love toward us
