Marco Reps used a Permalloy core from a specialty vendor not available for purchase from general electronic distributors. My found, the Metglas 2714A core, is carried by Digikey.
From my previous experience working on noise and HV isolation boards. I really don't like the ~100 pF bridge capacitor across the isolation barrier (for suppressing the diode antenna-like radiation). Most solutions I've read from research papers require exotic transformer winding techniques. I was delighted to see that Marco Reps eventually found a low-turn, high permeability transformer could solve it in a simple way.
