And then local on Pixelfed is just photo posts, rather than the text posts that dominate on a Mastodon instance.
So if you want an Instagram replacement that's focused on photos, or you're looking for great photography and images, then Pixelfed has a much better UX for it. If you want all posts, go with Mastodon.
