If the past few years taught me nothing else it's shown me the corruption and mediocrity of these representatives and experts who make up the rules. We're not represented by our betters. They may know more about the system than us plebes but they don't know more about right and wrong or managing a just society.
The political, legislative, judicial, policing and even electoral system is too systematically dysfunctional to fix. It needs a complete overhaul and that ain't gonna happen. When it comes to protecting people from unjust laws which destroy lives and livelihoods, jury nullification seems the only recourse.
As for lefties acquitting (or convicting) based on politics or minority status, that's already happening.
