I think that individual sovereignity and open P2P protocols, together with other technologies of the current age, will generate other dynamics that will be prefered over these from medieval principality states and old modern city states.

Some questions from these periods may be interesting though, specially to learn from mistakes or predict those who will fall or get stagnate into these ideas, but not really much than some others imo.
