Went through David grabers debt the first 5000 years.
Started off great as it gave good examples of how credit was most likely the most used "currency" society.
Then proceeded to give examples of how disparate tribes and cultures used money like goods not to just settle debts but more likely that they we a symbolism that the debt could never fully be repaid but that was a good thing as it kept the 2 parties tied together to cooperation.
Then the ending came and he goes on this Tirade about communism being the basis of all human interactions. Then he seems to have an ax to grind on captialism. Conflates debt creation by governments as "captialism"? Idk 🤷♂️
The ending of the book just veered hard retard to the end for him doing such a great job in the beginning. Sad.
The book was written in 2008 just before the meltdown. He even gave an updste to the book in 2014 add on at the end of it. Didn't change his tune much.
Oh well. Can't win em all.
