Fuck my life for responding midway through a train of thought.
to hit something = the act of striking one thing against another
It would be best to include a specific situation where spanking would be warranted in one's opinion, and then argue about that specific situation.
Just of the top of my head, if you touched a hot stove you'd get burned and that burn would be a physical reminder of the pain for the next time.
Likewise, if you did something extremely idiotic, like peeing in a bag and throwing it at your neighbors house, a talking to would do very little, however stern vs. a solid spanking that would make you remember at least some of the pain you've caused others, if you yourself don't yet experience the pain you are causing others.
Maybe that will teach you the other side of what you did and make you think twice the next time, regardless of the situation. After learning that, there's no need to "hit" again, you can talk about it through the lens of this experience.
Even though I'd make you clean it all up, paint anything that needed painting and so on, which would be a more valuable lesson about how easy it is to destroy vs. (re)create.
The "it's not theft, it's just taxation" comparison is off, because taxation is constant and regardless of circumstances, a spanking is hopefully warranted and irregular, to make a specific point.
Otherwise you're equating senseless hitting vs. behavior corrections.
