One of the "fun things" that covid taught me is that it may not be obvious that you're in an exponential situation until it's too late. Or that it being obvious that you're in an exponential situation to knowledgeable people won't be sufficient to prompt action by those in power.

I'm not at all saying that we're in Kessler syndrome, just that when we are we won't do anything about it until later than necessary.
