Eastern, direct line from what we believe to what we then do. Especially considering the enormity of the one in whom we believe. It's cognitive dissonance to believe that God will raise me from the dead into eternal life in His presence and at the same time casually disregard what He says for my present life.
Western, floating disconnection between what we believe in the abstract and what we do in the materialist hedonistic utilitarian present. So it is an interesting discussion point that God is the judge of the living and the dead, and I still indulge my vices seeing no connection or relevance between these things.
