If I had capital, right now, I'd start a company which deals exclusively in the design and manufacture of "dumb" devices. There's huge demand for such products, and fucking nobody is making them - furthermore, it's fucking cheaper to design and produce. Things'll fail less frequently, without all of the superfluous complexity of modern appliances, so you'll obviously have to factor that into your business model, but it could definitely work. I feel like I'm psychotic or some shit. Why no one do?
