Totally agree with this line of thinking. With the App Store-like approach systems such as start9 and umbrel have taken, OCD folks like myself will instinctively feel compelled to run node updates if, for no other reason, simply to make the update notification disappear.
Additionally, I’ve seen some high signal folks in the space suggest that we should treat every core upgrade as an attack while other high signal folks produce reports on how many nodes are running old/out of date versions of core.
It can be confusing for sure.
(PS - please don’t read this as a criticism of start9 or umbrel. I absolutely love them…just using them to illustrate a point).
