Since 1 September, Russia has stopped ‘social payments to teachers, doctors and officers of Abkhazia’s law enforcement structures’, reports concerned Konstantin Zatulin, known for similar ‘social payments’ to pro-Russian activists in Ukraine before 2014.

#Abkhazia, declaratively, is an independent republic, not part of the Russian Federation but in practice it is totally dependent on it and Russian subsidies and the presence of a Russian ‘peacekeeping contingent’ are the only reasons why this dependency persists.
