This one is mid 00's so its not that retro but that means its almost 20 years ago. The Descent is one of those movies that is just fun to watch and has a simple, but excellent and is in my top 10.

A group of women go on a caving trip and get stuck inside where it turns out there are weird creatures. Simple premise, awesome execution. More appropriate for Halloween than Christmas, but shut up. Go watch good movies
