Back in Finland I would sometimes go to the effort of trying to hunt down unsalted butter when the recipe called for it. I never really understood the reason behind the choice, and most of the time didn't bother.
Here on the continent it can be a downright pain in the proverbial to try find salted butter. And when you do, the prices are way too high to use it for baking or cooking.
