Many of these aspects are on a spectrum and aren't simple true/false things. Usually the best way to improve them is to have a fresh set of eyes pointing out the shortcomings. E.g. onboarding a new contributor, they read the onboarding guide and point out a term that isn't defined but others in the project assume as table stakes. So even when the project has room to improve, it's still not unfriendly to invite newcomers to participate in those improvements.
