Had a conversation with someone the other day where they pointed out that the “good old days” boomers want to return to isn’t just all the racism, sexism, and homophobia—though for sure that is part of it. But it’s also all the great socialism they had the pleasure of growing up under from highways and NASA under Ike to Medicare and Medicaid under Lyndy B and even Nixon’s EPA and clean water act. America was “great” (for white people at least) when we created programs and agencies to help people
