New research from Italy suggests that female politicians are most likely to be subject to violent attacks when there is the likelihood this will dissuade them from seeking re-election; of course misogyny & prejudice against female politicians also play a role, but attackers seem encouraged by the prospect that they can use violence to stop women continuing their political careers...
