Their colour, size and shape makes for great images. Butterflies often remain stationary long enough to allow you to compose your shot perfectly. A suggestion is to have your camera settings in place then you only have focus and positioning to concentrate on. When you look at the subject decide on the depth of field that will enhance your image the most, remember an aperture of f22 will give you greater depth in focus and an aperture of f1 will give a shallow depth in focus. As for you shutter speed select the highest obtainable to match your aperture setting. Now all that remains is to compose the butterfly in the image to enhance it taking into consideration the surroundings and the background.
