Completely out of patriotism. He took a big hit but recovered in part eventually. In exchange the government looks the other way when he skims off taxes etc. But now they're blaming his heirs (he died a while ago) for raised prices instead of Greece's 550bln debt (double that of the crash) worse gdp to debt ratio and double inflation (one the euro itself, + interest for it since Greece doesn't print euro it borrows it)
