Been watching a historical K-drama about an all-female theater troupe, and occasionally I think about how that couldn't exist in present day western countries. The places that have built up traditions surrounding all-female troupes can more easily enforce a no-males rule, because keeping them all-female is respecting the history and culture of it.
Western theater has no such traditions, so a female only troupe can't justify its existence like that in the era of trans. And once a TIM is forced in, the power of the concept is lost. Heck, even a TIF/NBIF would dull it, imo. In spite of the troupe still being all-female, the idea of women playing male roles is lessened when one actor claims her womanhood cannot be acknowledged on OR off-stage.
