I have also lost +/- 6 years of photos with google. When I started degoogling my life I tried loging into my acc. I was greeted by a message stating that it is not legal to use google if I am under 16. Yes, I did write my real age before I knew anything about privacy but I was using that profile for many years without any issues. The issue comes with the fact that they didn't give me the option to download my photos. They gave the options to only save my emails and contacts.
DON'T RELY ON GOOGLE, PEOPLE. GET A NAS
